Dr. Scott Edmonds
Dr. Scott Edmonds is the senior member of Edmonds Eye Associates. He is the former Co-Director of the Low Vision and Contact Lens Service at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and Chief Eyecare Officer at United Healthcare. He is a clinical professor at Western University of Health Sciences- College of Optometry and a member of the Adjunct faculty at Salus/Drexel University. He is member of the Allied Medical staff of the Lankenau Hospital. He is currently the author of a featured BLOG for Healio, a medical media company and information platform for physicians and healthcare professionals.
Background
A 1976 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a 1980 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Edmonds is a past President of the Philadelphia Optometric Society, the Chester Delaware Optometric Society and the 1988 President of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. On the national level, he has served as the Chairman of a number of committees for the American Optometric Association and was a member of the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education. Dr. Edmonds was honored by the Pennsylvania College of Optometry as the Preceptor of the Year in 1983. He was honored as the Optometrist of the Year in 1985 by the Philadelphia Optometric Society and again in 2008 by the Chester-Delaware Optometric Society. He was the honored as the Pennsylvania Optometric Association Optometrist of the Year in 2008. His BLOG series was a 2015 APEX award winner for publication excellence.
Dr. Susan Edmonds
Dr. Susan Edmonds is the founder and Co-Director of the Low Vision and Contact Lens Service at Wills Eye Hospital. She is a clinical professor at Western University of Health Sciences – College of Optometry and a Preceptor for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. She is member of the Allied Medical staff of the Lankenau Hospital. She is Medical Director at March Vision Care in Los Angeles, California and a Principal consultant with The Edmonds Group health care consulting firm in Philadelphia.
Background
A graduate of Grove City College and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she finished her training in 1982 where she was chosen for the Feinbloom Award for excellent in Low Vision. Dr. Edmonds is a past secretary of the Philadelphia Optometric Society, and the Chester Delaware Optometric Society and as served on several committees of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. She has and lectured on low vision and participated in multiple research studies at Jefferson Medical School. She is the co-author of the Chapter on Low Vision in a clinical book, Wills Eye Institute 5-minute Ophthalmology Consult published in 2012 and presented Posters on Low Vision topics in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Ryan Edmonds
Dr. Ryan Edmonds is an Optometrist with offices in Drexel Hill, Great Valley and Philadelphia providing complete eye care services for the surrounding communities.
Background
As a licensed optometrist in Pennsylvania and Alaska since 2010, Dr. Edmonds began providing comprehensive eye care which has grown to include the specialty areas of Low Vision and Advanced Contact Lens Fitting and Management. He utilizes skills in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating of all disorders that affect the eye or vision. In addition to training in eye diseases and disorders, Dr. Edmonds is also taking an Interest in the scope of public health going beyond eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and Keratoconus and into the counseling and early detection of diabetes and hypertension. Dr. Edmonds split his first 4 years of practice to provide eye-care throughout southwestern Alaska and his home base here in Philadelphia. In remote distant villages he brought much needed services through small planes and snowmobiles to equip the native population with glasses, contact lenses, and ocular health examinations. After four years of working between Philadelphia, PA and Alaska, he has grounded himself with Edmonds Eye Associates and is happy to join the family practice full time. He is currently serving as the President of the Chester-Delaware Society of Optometry. He lectures on low vision and rural community health. He is the co-author of the Chapter on Low Vision in a clinical book, Wills Eye Institute 5-minute Ophthalmology Consult published in 2012.
Dr. Chad Edmonds
Dr. Chad Edmonds graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2017, while there he completed externships including the Longbeach VA in California where he trained in the management of Traumatic Brain Injury and The William Feinbloom Low vision Department at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he trained in the management of Low Vision. He holds awards for excellence in Primary Care and Low Vision from Salus University.
Background
Chad grew up around Optometry and the office, In high school he worked to grind glasses in the lab and has been working on the technical side of running the office ever since. His interested in technology has lead him to be interested in Traumatic Brain Injury, Concussion Stroke and the management that goes along with them.
Dr. Theresa Neiderer
Dr. Neiderer graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1987. While there she completed externships including Einstien Medical Center in Philadelphia where she was trained in the management of medical eye disorders, The Lynch Pediatric/Binocular Vision Department at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Specialty Contact Lens Services at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Background
Dr. Neiderer is therapeutically certified to treat and manage eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and macular degeneration as well as managing pre and postoperative surgical patients. She is trained in the treatment of visual disorders that require vision therapy. Prior to joining the Edmonds Eye Associates in 1996, Dr. Neiderer worked with HealthAmerica, a center based Health Maintenance Organization in the Pittsburgh area where she provided provided comprehensive eye care and management of eye disease. She also worked with West Penn Eye Associates at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh where she cared for post-op surgery patients. Now at Edmonds Eye Associates, Dr. Neiderer enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She is experienced providing comprehensive and medical eye exams as well as fitting both hard and soft lenses for people of all ages. Dr. Neiderer also participates in the management of patients with acute brain injury. Dr. Neiderer regularly attends numerous educational conferences to maintain the highest standards in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease and eye disorders as well as the newest advances in technology and contact lenses. Dr. Neiderer has spent time mentoring high school and college school students who desire to pursue a career in the optometric field. She also provides services to the underprivileged in her community.
Dr. Joseph Sciortino
Dr. Sciortino is an Optometrist serving and providing care in the Philadelphia area. He completed his training at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Here he rotated through clinics specializing in Vision Therapy, Dry Eye and Ocular Disease.
Background
Dr. Sciortino graduated from Rutgers University – New Brunswick in 2017 with a degree in Biological Sciences. He was an active participant in research involving visual scanning techniques utilized by patients with Macular Degeneration. During his attendance of the Southern College Optometry, he was an active member in various service organizations to promote the field of Optometry. His interests include: Traumatic Brain Injury and Neurorehabilitation as well as Dry Eye.
Dr. Sean Connell
Dr. Connell is an optometrist practicing in the Delaware Valley providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. Dr. Connell graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2020 after completing training in medical optometry at Einstein Medical Center and the Primary Care Department of The Eye Institute.
Background
Dr. Connell is a Delaware County native who began his optometric career as a technician prior to attending optometry school. Dr. Connell enjoys treating patients with all manner of eye conditions, from cataracts and glaucoma to keratoconus and traumatic injuries. Outside of work hours Dr. Connell enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
